I honestly didn't know the difference until earlier this week. Diving into words has never been my thing. Especially when words like this have similar roots I would just consider then as relatively the same.
Upon further review these two works are significantly different. I'll let you google the dictionary definitions but in summary intelligence is application of knowledge and the act of understanding facts and truths whereas intellect is a feeling or thought derived within oneself.
Using these two words we can make distinction that using our intellect is dangerous to our personal growth, our relationships, and our overall well being, while using our intelligence can make life much more peaceful.
For the sake of time in you reading this blog I'll make it simple: intelligence creates feelings, feelings reveal truths, truth saves time, saving time allows for attention to all details, and attention to details allows us to take meaningful and fact driven actions!
The opposite, intellect creates emotions, emotions drive story telling (hint: drama), stories waste time, wasted time causes us to lack attention and be distracted, distraction causes reactions that are ill conceived, without truth, and detrimental to our purpose.
Working on living the distinction between these two words is a challenge for me but it's something I believe in and will practice and teach to anyone who wants to learn how to get out of their own way, including myself!
