Why do I workout?

Why do I workout as hard as I do at age 51??


After telling a few people what my workout consisted of yesterday their responses were similar....”Wisch WTF are you thinking??!!”


Actually the new CrossFitter in the pic with me asked me how long I’ve been doing this and I realized in September it will be 4 years!!


I was shocked it has been that long already and I celebrated that by setting a new PR on my overhead squat. 🏋️‍♂️


So why do I do it....because I can!! Because it feels great to move intentionally and with purpose, it feels good to connect with myself like I did yesterday while in the suck of a workout to press through and expand myself beyond what my mind thinks it’s capable of!


I do it for my ego, because I was always the overweight kid who felt better eating than exercising.


I do it for people that can’t for whatever reason...


I do it for my health, obviously, so I don’t return to that 240 pound lazy lump I once was...


Lastly, I do it for God, taking care of my temple so I can keep serving Him and fulfill my mission on earth.


Every workout is an expansion, a new growth opportunity and I’ve learned if we’re not growing we’re contracting and if we’re contracting we’re dying and I have too much left to do to go there yet!!

I’m a firm believer in growth, even at 51, and I think everyone should dedicate themselves to that mindset because it creates a peace and happiness I think many are missing out on!
